What to Expect During Your Visit

Dr. Serena Ma conducts two types of patient visits:

1) an integrated appointment, with both naturopathic and Oriental medical philosophies in mind, or

2) acupuncture and Oriental medicine only. The fee schedules differ.

For an integrated appointment, the first office visit takes 1½ hours, so that a full history of the complaint can be taken with a complete review of past medical history. Past lab work may also be reviewed. Then, a phone consult is scheduled within 48 hours, at which she makes suggestions such as lifestyle and diet changes, herbs/supplements, acupuncture, therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, Chinese herbal medicine, preferably in cooperation with your primary care provider.

This two-part appointment allows Dr. Serena Ma to study your case and to make the most appropriate recommendations. Acupuncture will not be performed at this first visit, only at subsequent visits, if recommended. Follow up visits range from 30-60 minutes, depending on the type of visit.

The fee schedule for an "integrated" appointment is as follows:

First Office Visit (two-part)	$300
Return Office Visit (no acupuncture)	$75
Return Office Visit with acupuncture	$100
Return Office Visit (extended with acupuncture)	$125

 

For the acupuncture and Oriental medicine appointment, the first office visit is also 1½ hours, however acupuncture will be performed at this first visit. The history-taking is less comprehensive than the "integrated" appointment.
